Munnar is the most prominent and popular hill station in South India. As a result, thousands of tourists visit this place every year. It is located on the confluence of three mountains Kundala, Nallathanni and Muthirapuzha. Due to its natural beauty, Munnar is also known as the ‘Paradise on Earth’.

The region has an average altitude of 1600 m above the sea level. As a result, weather remains cool all through the year. The hill station is surrounded by lush green mountains, tea plantations and many waterfalls. Therefore, during the British rule, it used to be the summer resort for them. The beauty all around Munnar is breath taking. As a result, it is an ideal destination for nature lovers and honeymoon couples. In addition, Munnar is a favorite destination for the hikers and wildlife lovers.

Most of the people speaks Malayalam and Tamil. Tea Plantation is the biggest industry here. The place is surrounded by approximately 30 tea estates. As a result, a major percentage of the local population is employed in the Tea Industry.

Firstly, if you are going for a day trip only, you will not have enough time to complete sight seeing of all the tourist spots. However, try to cover the most important ones including Top Station, Mattupetty Dam, Echo Point, Kundala, Rajamala (Eravikulam National Park), Attukad waterfalls and Pothamedu View Point

Day 1:
Since you have two days to visit all the tourist spots, divide them in two groups and cover one group on each day. On day one go out for the sight seeing tour including Top Station, Mattupetty Dam, Echo Point, Kundala, Rajamala (Eravikulam National Park), Attukad waterfalls and Pothamedu View Point

Day 2:
Visit rest of the attractions including – Luckkom Waterfalls, Nymakkad View Point, Vaguvarai View Point, Coffee and Tea Plantations, Sandal Wood Forest and Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary

Day 1:
Since you have a three day plan, plan to visit the tourist spots in two groups.  On day one, visit Top Station, Mattupetty Dam, Echo Point, Kundala, Rajamala (Eravikulam National Park), Attukad waterfalls and Pothamedu View Point

Day 2:
On day two, visit rest of the tourist spots including Luckkom Waterfalls, Nymakkad View Point, Vaguvarai View Point, Coffee and Tea plantations, Sandal wood forest and Chinnar wildlife sanctuary

Day 3:
The entire day is free for you to relax and enjoy the eternal beauty of the place.

How To Get Around Munnar

Public transport and local buses are not frequent. Therefore, having your own car or a rented one is very convenient during your travel. Alternately, hire a auto for point to point drop or on rental basis.
