Tajpur Travel Guide

Tajpur is the newest addition to the tourist attractions of West Bengal. It is located between Mandarmoni and Tajpur i.e east of Digha.By road it is 17 KM from Digha along the Kanthi-Digha Road. The key charm of Tajpur is obviously its pristine virgin sea beach fringed with a thick forest of tamarisk trees. The beach looks incredible with infinite number of small red crabs which play hide and seek in the sand and create beautiful designs by their tiny claws. Their company makes the coast look crimson at times.

There are fisherman’s hamlets in the locale, where one can peep into their daily lives and struggles. There is a lagoon nearby with picturesque surroundings. One can get all these just at a distance of 170 km from the heart of Kolkata. Tajpur has also around 1400 acres of land dedicated to Pisciculture.

There are a number of bheris or fish-ponds in the area. Although there are fewer hotels compared to Digha and Mandarmani, the beach is cleaner and home to diverse range of flora and fauna. So if you are looking for a relaxed weekend holiday away from the humdrum of the city life, Tajpur would offer an ideal setting.

However, they offer multi-cuisine food on request. Restaurant are immaculate and well equipped. The sea-food variety along with the Bengali vegetarian delights are a must-taste. Since this area is remotely located, food is quite expensive. If you are looking for something difference, Bengali cuisine in the temporary hatches on the beach is a must-taste.
